Summer Camps: Patch Picks

A weekly list that highlights the best of the Palos area.

Believe it or not, summer is right around the corner and now is the time of year to begin thinking about summer camps. Often times they fill up fast so it is best to start thinking about it early. In addition to the ones listed, Palos Park , Palos Hills and Lake Katherine will all feature a multitude of summer options for kids.

Palos Heights Recreation Department
  • Ages: 3 years to 6th grade
  • Cost: Varied
  • Dates and Times: Sessions are held throughout the summer and vary depending on the particular program.
  • Location: With programs geared toward specific age groups, the camps feature plenty of play and outings. Most take place at the .
Summer Camps at The Center's Farm
  • Ages: Grades 4th to 12th
  • Cost: $950 - $1100
  • Dates and times: The two-week sessions are offered from  June 19 to August 12
  • Location: Three camps are offered targeting different age groups. Farm Camp, Ranch Camp and Senior Outdoor Leadership give participants the opportunity to learn and interact with peers on outdoor complex.

MORAINE VALLEY LEARNING CENTER

  • Ages: Kids through teens.
  • Cost: Varies per program.
  • Dates and times: June through August.

  • CHICAGO BEARS YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP
  • Ages: 6-14
  • Dates and times: Monday through Friday, July 11-15
  • Cost: $389
  • Location: Learn how to run, throw, catch, defend, and compete just like the Chicago Bears. The Bears are offering a non-contact football camp at Reavis High School, 6034 W. 77th St., Burbank. For info call 312-226-7776
