Palos Park Police Foundation Elects New Board Members, Sets Agenda

The Palos Park Police Foundation prepares plans for 2012.

The 2012 Officers for the Palos Park Police Foundation are:  President - Carolyn Baca, Vice President - Ken Stoffel, Secretary - Melissa Gracias, and Treasurer - Adrienne Jackiw.

This year current members Mike Sundermeier, Shirley Hulse and Don Mahoney have welcomed four new members - Annette Mucha, Melissa Gracias, Dave Glow and Adrienne Jackiw.

The Palos Park Police Foundation is dedicated to preventing crime, saving lives and making our community a better and safer place to live and work, by assisting the Police Department with resources not available from the village.  The Foundation is the major source of private support for the PPPD.

The Foundation was formed in 2010 to help fund urgently needed programs and equipment for the Palos Park Police Department.

Mayor John Mahoney said, “The Police Foundation is a vital resource for the people of our community to work in a collaborative partnership.  It is businesses and individuals working with police officers to enrich and support our community, making it a better place for all.”

Chief Joe Miller, speaking for the officers said “Police departments nationwide are juggling budget cuts and the reality is cuts can have an impact on our operational abilities.  The need for the Police Foundation as a source of private financial support for the PPPD has never been greater.  Their work serves as an integral partner in the successes of the Department."   

The Palos Park Police Foundation just approved the following expenditures for the Palos Park Police Department:

  • Glock Simunition Pistols, Protective Masks and marking rounds
  • One Taser X26 with Camera and training cartridges
  • 20 portable radio batteries for patrol radios
  • Two boxes of Transport hoods (for prisoners spitting etc...)
  • One Laptop  ($500) for trials and court presentation of video evidence
  • One SPV100 Supervision Patrol Package

This donation totaled $9,695.
