Stagg HS hosts event for elected officials, school leaders to strengthen connections

Stagg High School hosted a Community Connections event that brought together elected officials and leaders from the township, county, municipal and school district boards that serve the Stagg High School attendance area. 

The event is part of the District 230 School Board and Administration's communication goal to engage with leaders for the mutual benefit of constituents throughout the community.
 
District 230 School Board President Rick Nogal, Superintendent Dr. James M. Gay and Stagg High School Principal Eric Olsen shared highlights about the district and school and how they prepare students for college and careers.

School highlights included recognizing two National Merit Commended Students Rebecca Krasney and Courtney McInerney, All-State Academic Team member Austin Kelly, and Illinois Music Educator Association All-State Music Festival singers Evan Gallermo, Anthony Hansen, Samuel Kearns, Skyler Mackovitch, Anna Swiech, Alexander Vallera and Cameryn Wysocki.

Principal Olsen also shared that Stagg students earned 106 Advanced Placement Scholar Awards, including three National AP Scholars, for their performance on AP tests which can earn college credit while still in high school.

He also shared that Stagg graduates regularly go on to attend highly prestigious colleges and universities. The list includes Princeton University, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Cornell University, Notre Dame University, and the Burklee College of Music, to name a few. The most commonly attended universities for Stagg graduates include University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois State University, St. Xavier University, DePaul University and Lewis University.

The athletic and co-curricular accomplishments of Chargers were also celebrated including State Champions and qualifiers, All-State athletes, and the award winning Marching Chargers and Winter Guard.

The a cappella singing group Business Casual under the direction of Chris Betz and the Jazz Band under the direction of Bob Mecozzi entertained the crowd with their performances.
