When and how did your business get started?

Always a few steps ahead, Julea launched her interior redesign business in 1999 when room makeovers, home styling and HGTV was in its infancy. There was a new generation of designer emerging, one that didn't tell you to toss all your belongings to the curb, you need to shop couture to make your home fabulous and that a beautiful space could be within your budget.

What is your business best known for?

One-day room makeovers—let's use what you have first! I use what you already have and artfully arrange your furnishings, art, lighting and accessories to depict your personality, lifestyle and character.

Within a day, a room becomes balanced, functional and unified. Best of all, you get instant gratification, validate your existing pieces, and readies your rooms for perhaps additional pieces, paint or other interior decorating ideas.

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?

After 10 years in California, we moved back to my hometown of Palos Park. In fact, we bought the home I grew up in. Having been raised in the beautiful, small town atmosphere and awesome schools of Palos Park, we wanted our children to be raised in the same environment.

Having my business based here has been wonderful. A small community such as Palos allows for people to get to know you and your work. I'm active too in the community, serving on the board of Palos Fine Arts which gives me great creative inspiration.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

I've been featured on HGTV and host a cable cooking and entertaining TV show on Palos Heights Channel 4 called "The Easy Gourmet."
