New Restaurant Promises Locally Sourced Food, Full Bar

The owners of Harvest Restaurant are remodeling the building at the corner of 127th and Harlem.

A new restaurant coming to Palos Heights will feature locally grown, sustainable foods from growers in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Two owners of the Harvest Restaurant were granted a restaurant liquor license at Tuesday's Palos Heights City Council meeting.

The upscale restaurant is coming to the former Pancake Factory building, located at the corner of Harlem Avenue and 127th Street. Owners Michael Campas and Christ Sirigas want to add a full bar, offering such things as bloody mary brunches and mimosas with their food items. Most of what they'll offer will be made on site, including bread and pastries baked in a new bakery at the restaurant.

"Everything we can make from scratch will be made, every morning," Campas said.

Harvest Restaurant had been previously described as a brunch restaurant but now has a full menu, set daily, for breakfast, lunch and dinner based on seasonally available goodies.

"We're trying to bypass the canned foods," Sirigas said.

The interior of the restaurant is going through a remodel. The booths, floor and lighting are being redone. The seating at the bar will be expanded to 10 seats and a section of the restaurant will be converted to a cafe with wifi access.

While the owners plans to be open from the early morning to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m., depending on the day, the liquor license will limit when alcohol can be served. They don't plan to have a late-night bar crowd.

Campas is from Palos but now lives in Orland Park. Sirigas lives in Palos Park.
