Comcast Customers to See a Speed Boost Soon

Subscribers of Comcast's BLAST and EXTREME packages will see up to 200 percent speed increases come March 4.

On March 4, Comcast will reboot it’s BLAST and EXTREME internet services, potentially doubling speed to customers at no extra charge.

If you are customer, getting the speed boost is easy. On March 4, unplug your modem for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

However, before you get too excited, consider the words of one astute Oak Lawn Patch reader who happens to be an IT professional:

"It's unfortunate what people do and do not know when dealing with non-technical customer service. DOCSYS 3.0, which is what this is, requires new hardware. Old hardware still works, however, to get the fastest speeds, you need a DOCSYS3.0 modem. It's a hardware limitation. Just like how a ford escort can't go 120mph without serious upgrades, regardless of the gas you put into it."
