Back to School Health Fair on Aug. 9 at Richards High School

Numerous medical facilities and government agencies will join District 218 on Friday, August 9 in hosting a Back to School Health Fair at Richards High School in Oak Lawn. 

The event, which will run from noon to 4 p.m., will feature a limited number of free school physicals, free dental exams, and free vision screens.  Richards is located at 10601 S. Central Avenue. 

Other services include reduced-cost school physicals for $40; immunizations for $10; and comprehensive eye exams for $40.  Parents must accompany their children in order for them to receive health care services.

The event also includes free vision screenings and free health screens for blood pressure, bone density, body glucose, and others. 

MetroSouth Medical Center, Advocate Christ Medical Center, Complete Vision Care, Mt. Greenwood Eye Care, the St. Xavier University health center, Orland Park Dental, and Smile, Illinois, are among the many health care facilities providing services.

The fair includes free food, drinks and free school supplies.  For young children, the fair will feature free games, a bounce house, a clown, and face painting. 

District 218 will provide free bus service to and from the fair.  The bus stops, listed with pick-up and drop-off times, include: Route 1 - Calumet Park Village Hall, (11:10, 3:10); St. Donatus Church/Blue Island, (11:15, 3:05); Revere Primary School/Blue Island (11:20, 2:55); Hale Primary School/Crestwood (11:35, 2:45).

Also, Route 2 - Lincoln School/Blue Island, (11:10, 2:45); Keller Middle School/Robbins (11:15, 2:50); Delta Learning Center/Robbins (11:20, 3:00); Turner School/Robbins (11:25, 3:05).

Route 3: Kerr Middle School/Blue Island (11:10, 3:05); Memorial Park/Blue Island (11:15, 3:00);  Hazelgreen School/Alsip (11:25, 2:50); Prairie Junior High/Alsip (11:30, 2:45).
