Recently, Patch showed you the photos from the Dr. Zack Zaibak's ceremony at Tinley Park Village Hall where the 37-year-old Palos Heights native officially became a commissioned lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
Now you can watch our video interview with Zaibak, who spoke with Patch days before the event on Friday, April 5. The Tinley Park dentist talks about his motivations for joining the military and what he was feeling after being sworn in by Mayor Ed Zabrocki in front of friends, family colleagues and fellow sailors.

We also spoke to Zaibak's wife, Aida, who not only opens up about her concerns over her husband's enlistment but also her pride over his decision and the example it sets for their 4-year-old daughter, Sarah.
Zaibak went from civilian to officer so quickly because the Navy factored in his years of professional experience as a dentist when he was recruited, he said. He is not an active duty officer, but as part of the Navy Reserve, he will serve one weekend a month and train two weeks a year, Zaibak said.
Additionally, Zaibak was voted by readers as Patch's Tinley Park Person of the Year for 2013, thanks in large part to his fundraising efforts for Together We Cope.
