St. Alexander Grad Makes Cross-Continental Bike Trip

Twenty-nine-year-old Brendan Kay recently returned to his parent's home in Palos Park after completing an 8,800-mile bike ride across Asia and Europe.

Sun-Times Media profiled Kay after he returned to the U.S. in December. He set out on May 21 from Shanghai, China, and ended his trip in Ireland.

Kay, who attended St. Alexander School in his youth, told the newspaper that his trip was to raise awareness about a life-threatening disease called hemochromatosis.
