Sacred Heart Palos Hills Announces Next Installments in Summer Music Series

Mark your calendars for upcoming performances at Sacred Heart Palos Hills.

The Sacred Heart Music Department is pleased to host the next two installments of its Summer Music Series. On Wednesday, July 16 at 7 p.m., soprano and published author Michelle Gliottoni Rodriguez will present a recital of songs by Quilter, Gounod, Fauré, Verdi, and Bernstein in the Church. Michelle was educated by Dr. Jan Bickel at Chicago’s Saint Xavier University and recently finished a tour in Colorado. For more information on Michelle’s writings, please visit http://www.michellegliottonirodriguez.webs.com/.

On Sunday, July 20 at 4 p.m., the Sacred Heart Cantori under Music Director James Grzadzinski will present “Musical Meditations on the Lives of Saints John XXIII and John Paul II” in the Church. This program will incorporate the encyclical writings of both Popes in this year of their canonization by Pope Francis, juxtaposed alongside choral works by Palestrina, Brahms, Duruflé, Proulx, Stopford, and Nestor, among others. The Most Reverend Joseph M. Siegel, Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar General of the Diocese of Joliet, will preside and offer a reflection during the program.

Admission to both programs is complimentary, but a free will offering is encouraged to benefit the Sacred Heart Music Department. Additional programs will be held on Wednesday, August 6 at 7 p.m. in the Church (Music for Church and Chamber—Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, and Keyboard), and back by popular demand and acclaim, “Broadway Hits and Popular Favorites” on Sunday, September 14th at 4 p.m. in the Ministry Center Gym.
