PHOTO GALLERY: A Sweet End to Summer at Palos Park Library

The Palos Park Public Library celebrated the end of its summer adult reading program with a tasty treat for participants.

The adult summer reading program at the was brought to a tasty end on Tuesday night.

Over a dozen delectables were entered into the library's summer finale Bake-Off, ranging from fruit pizzas to honey butter.

Celebrity judges included Mayor John Mahoney, Fire Chief Steve Carr, Police Chief Joe Miller, owner of  Marty Linderborg and interior stylist Julea Joseph.

The program ended a summer-themed "Food for Thought" reading program. Programs were held at the library throughout the summer that catered to the participants' taste buds. During the closing festivities, participants were also awarded prizes for being active in the reading program.

  • The George Clooney Award (For the Most Handsome Treat): Laura Wells, Fruit Pizza
  • Do You Know How Long It Took Me To Make This Thing (for a baker who truly put in a lot of time and labor): Bobbie Hett, Bobbie's Cookies
  • It's Okay To Have Seconds (for the healthiest treat): Vicki Lenart, Eskimo Cookies
  • The Crowd Pleaser (for treat voted best by the crowd): Gloria Campione, Cherry Sheet Cake
  • Best of Show: Ewa Dybaczewska, Almond Biscotti
