Palos Hills Veteran Welcomed Home

Sgt. Andrew Jender of the United States Marine Corps. is greeted with a hero's welcome in his hometown.

USMC Sgt. Andrew J. Jender, a Stagg High School graduate and Palos Hills resident, is back home for a short while before he returns to active duty.

For his return, Jender's family asked the Soldiers Guardian Angels and the Warrior Watch Riders to greet 22-year-old solider on his R&R back home.

Jender spoke about his experience and thanked the veterans who escorted him through Palos Hills.

"To come home to what I came home, there was a little party in the airport," Jender said. "I know it was way more than what some veterans ever received so I want to thank you for everything you did."

Jender also took a moment during his recognition to pay tribute to his fellow solders.

"My heart goes out to the guys that were out with me who didn't get the chance to come home," he said.

Jender spoke before a Palos Hills City Council meeting on Thursday.
