Palos Hills Eighth-Grader Earns National Football Honor

Sean Marrotta was honored at the Palos Hills City Council meeting on Thursday.

The Palos Hills City Council recognized the impressive achievement of Sean Marrotta at Thursday night's meeting. Marrotta has been named to the All American National Team for Pop Warner Travel Football.

He was ranked the number one eighth grade player in the 12-state Midwest region and the number one rated defensive right guard in the United States.

Sean is the son of Ald. Joe Marrotta (4th ward) and will attend in the fall.

“I gave him a choice of four schools [some private] but he said he wants to go to Stagg, and I'm very proud of him,” Marrotta said.

Sean has received $500 in scholarship money so far for his achievements, and will likely receive more at the national ceremony to be held in Chicago at the Palmer House in May.

“He's going to use some [of the money] for a football camp this summer and the rest for college,” Marrotta said, adding with a smile, “hopefully he'll get a college scholarship and then I guess he can do what he wants with it.”

Sean said he likes right guard, but hopes to have a more hands on position when he gets too high school.

“I would like to play tight end,” he said. “And maybe even try some other positions also.”

He also said he is excited for the National conference in Chicago.

Sean was able to meet Chicago Bear J'Marcus Webb at the regional event.
