Giving Thanks in Palos on this Holiday

Your Patch editor sends his best wishes during this day of thanks.

I feel lucky to be where I am this Thanksgiving.

This year, 2012, has been a time of change for me. I packed up my life in the western suburbs and ventured to the Southland. The move is welcomed, of course, and I'm quickly growing to love the life in the south suburbs.

The best part, by far, is the reaction I've received from the people in the Palos area. "Welcoming" doesn't begin to describe it. I know that a large part of comes from the work done here before I arrived. My predecessor did a fantastic job — and the people in Palos Heights, Palos Park, Palos Hills and the surrounding town know that.

What's remarkable and tremendous is the response I've received from the Palos community. Being new to an area carries certain challenges. But I'm confident that I'm rising to the challenge.

For Thanksgiving this year, I'm thankful for what I've found here in the south suburbs.
