Palos Area Hill Among Best Sledding Spots in Cook County

I know it's hard, but look on the bright side. While you are busy shoveling your driveway and brushing snow off your car remember that the arrival of this powdery stuff means it's the perfect time to go sledding.

The Cook County Forest Preserve District put together a nice and handy list of the best sledding hills in the forest preserves. If you are looking for a nearby spot to shove your offspring down a hill whilst they balance on a plastic board you are in luck.

Listed amongst the best hills is a Palos area spot. Pioneer Woods at 9966 W. 107th St. is highlighted as a great place to sled. Temporary lighting has been installed at the hill to keep the fun going into the evening.

Pioneer Woods can be entered on 107th Street, a half mile west of LaGrange Road. Sledding hours at that site are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On a sad note, local favorite Swallow Cliff is closed for the winter as improvements are planned for the site. Find a full list of Forest Preserve sledding sites on their website
