Many Major Roads Closed Through Friday Morning Commute

The Illinois Department of Transportation is also warning drivers to avoid driving through potentially deadly puddles covering the road, no matter how shallow they may seem.

If you have to commute in the morning, plan ahead. 

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced, as of 5:15 p.m. Thursday, the following roads will be closed through the Friday morning commute due to heavy flooding:

  • BD Bishop Ford at 130th            
  • BD Stony at S/of 95th                 
  • 135th Ridgeland  
  • Wolf 167th- US 6            
  • 107th LaGrange-Kean                   
  • McCarthy Bell- Will Cook                       
  • SW Hwy IL 7 131-135th             
  • 143rd Will Cook  
  • Wolf  143-151                  
  • IL 59  Penny-Bartlett       
  • 41  176     
  • 41 South of 60     
  • 173 Delany - Kilbourn                 
  • 132 1st- O'Plaine                
  • 41  21 - Depot                  
  • 26th Euclid- Western       
  • Governors Hwy  216th    
  • Wood    138th                  
  • 25th Cermak                    
  • SB Mannheim  St.Charles - Butterfield               
  • 1st  Forest- Ogden                       
  • Mannhiem Cermak                       
  • Roosevelt  Westchster  and Wolf            
  • 6  187th - Will cook

Additionally, IDOT is warning drivers not to drive through puddles covering the road, no matter how shallow they may seem.

  • Do not drive through flooded areas, they can turn deadly.
  • If a road covered by water seems shallow enough to cross, do not attempt to do so. It has the potential to sweep your car away.
  • If your car stalls, do not attempt to push it out; seek higher ground.
