Gapski is currently in his 26th year with the Chicago Blackhawks. He achieved his longtime dream of working with his favorite team when he was named head athletic trainer for Blackhawks in 1987.

The trainer and his wife, Lynne, and their four children, Michael, Steven, Gillian and Ryan are proud to share the Stanley Cup with the Crestwood and South Side communities.

“We are so proud of Mike and his achievements with the team,” Crestwood Mayor Lou Presta said, whose inviting area mayors to the celebration. “We can’t wait to get the town together to celebrate the Stanley Cup win.”

The Stanley Cup championship team is allotted 100 days during the off-season to pass around the Cup, including the team’s victory parade and a day with each player and member of the team’s staff.

The Cup is always accompanied by at least one representative from Hockey Hall of Fame. Some players have unofficially spent a day in personal possession of the Cup. Victors have used the Cup to baptize their children and even let their dogs eat from it, according to the experts at Wikipedia.

The Stanley Cup will also make an appearance at 115 Bourbon Street at 3359 W. 115th Street in Merrionette Park, according to the company's Facebook page. It will cost $20 for adults and $10 for children to take a photo with the cup, with proceeds going to Blackhawks Charities. Times are to be announced.
