Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste on Official Illinois EPA Collection Day

Certain household items can be tossed during a collection Saturday, May 3.

Illinois officials are holding household hazardous waste collection days across the state, as part of Earth Month activities.

The Environmental Protection Agency will conduct one-day collections this spring in eight communities, beginning Saturday, April 11. Palos Hills will host its effort on May 3, at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway.

Residents should round up any oil-based paints, thinners, chemical cleaners, unwanted prescription medicine, mercury, antifreeze, motor oil, pesticides, household batteries, fluorescent lights and other items for disposal.
