St. Patricia School Welcome Home Soldiers!

Mrs. Oszakiewski’s fifth grade students had the opportunity at the end of this school year to visit with two soldiers who just returned from Afghanistan. Students wrote to Tim Clausing, Army Specialist, and Mike Porfino, Lieutenant Commander, US Navy, throughout the academic year. Mr. Jim Kruse and the AdoptaPlatoon organization sent care packages to them while they were on their tours of duty.  The soldiers spoke to the students about their experiences in Afghanistan and answered the students’ questions. The fifth graders performed a reader’s theater of the Preamble to the Constitution and sang some patriotic songs at classroom receptions held in each soldier’s honor. Jim Kruse, President of the Holy Name, and Principal Tom Clausing also welcomed the men home. We thank these men for their year of service. They are our true heroes!
