POSA Eagles Soar at Conference

Thursday 2/13/14 was a cold and windy night but the Palos Orland Swim Association (POSA) was red hot in the pool.  POSA was competing in the South Suburban Swim Conference (SSSC) Gold Division Championship Swim Meet at Lincoln-Way West HS. POSA finished a decisive 3rd place behind the much larger LWSA and HWSA teams and almost 200 points ahead of 4 other very competitive teams.

The POSA Eagles were led by Clare Lawlor who earned two first place finishes in her two individual swims.  The entire team was swimming new best times in their events and every swimmer contributed to the great finish.  In addition to Lawlor, the other high point leaders in their age groups were Bella Wrobel, Joey Jenkot, Alexa Barstatis, Peter Bukiri, Morgan Hawes, Daniel Mroz, Ava Giblin, and Ethan Pautsch.  The other Conference Champion with a first place finish was Peter Bukiri in the Boys 12 & Under 50 yard Breaststroke.  Bukiri also qualified for the State Championship with his time in that swim.

Head Coach Josh Rogers was very pleased with his team after the meet. “We swam a great meet from the 7 year olds to the 17 year olds.  It was as complete a meet as we could have swum. The competition in this conference is very tough.  A top three finish is an impressive accomplishment especially considering how deep the talent pool is on all of these teams."

The Gold Division is designated as the highest level of the three and has 7 teams.
