Stagg Students Learn Life Lessons From Senior Citizens

Students at Stagg High School were given a unique learning opportunity when seniors from Smith Village visited to the school and gave first-hand remembrances of living through historical events. 

In a recent District 230 blog post on this site, the special day was described and it's clear it was a meaningful one for students. When talking about the Great Depression Kay Fox, who was born in 1921, told the students, “I was quite young but I remember ordering groceries from a little store on the corner.  If we didn’t have money to pay the bill, the owner would put our name in a book and my dad would pay at a later time.”
