Baby is a playful, affectionate Domestic Shorthair cat with orange, black and white fur.  She is a 3 years old, and has been living at PAWS Animal Shelter in Tinley Park since May, after her owner passed away. Rosie and Lily are two lovable and playful miniature Dachshund dogs that need an owner who will appreciate them both. Millie is a two-year-old Pointer mix in need of a home. Inside, she's a very calm, gentle and responsive to people and their commands. UPDATE: Katherine has been adopted! Thanks for your support. Katherine loves playing around, especially with other dogs, and you can get her for a bargain this week. This week, PAWS is having a Black Friday special, offering reduced prices if you come in Friday and adopt a pet with black fur. (There are about 20 such pets at PAWS.) Apples will stay busy for a long time. He is a five-month old domestic shorthair catwith a long tail, and bright eyes against his soft black fur. Apples weighs about two pounds, and likes scampering after hanging things. Apples could use a home. He now stays at Tinley Park PAWS. Windy, last week's pet of the week, has now been adopted. Meet Windy. He's a gentle yet energetic American pit bull terrier who was brought to PAWS Tinley Park about two weeks ago. He was a stray, and at this time, no one knows where he was before coming to PAWS. Windy's a handsome dog with short red fur, brown eyes and a friendly "smile." Windy weighs 63 pounds, has been microchipped and responds well to training. He gets along great with people and other dogs, and walks well on the leash. Windy is a playful dog, always eager to play fetch, even if he already has a ball in his mouth.

Skipper is a 7-month-old male Beagle mix with plenty of energy and affection to share.  Skipper was brought into PAWS with a fractured hip when he was just 2 months old. After spending a couple of months in foster care he is ready for adoption. Skipper has spent time with other dogs and gets along with canines big and small. Skipper weighs in at about 20 pounds, has floppy ears and big brown eyes.  He is looking for an active family that can give him a great home.

Diesel is a handsome, high-energy 11-month-old Labrador-Doberman mix. He's very friendly, but can play a bit rough for younger children. He's healthy, up-to-date on his shots and microchipped. A great, happy dog for an active person.

Yesterday, your Adopt Me columnists received great news: four dogs we've featured here, Candy and three puppy siblings, have found new homes. Of course, we're thrilled to hear this, but there are still some great animals at PAWS of Tinley Park looking for a new home, and Gizmo is one of them. Gizmo is an 8-year-old golden retriever-German shepherd mix who came to PAWS after his owners lost their house and had to move into an apartment. He's very mellow and does well with kids and other dogs. He doesn't necessarily need a yard, but he does need to go on a few walks each day. Health-wise, Gizmo…

In a departure from our normal focus on a single pet, this week we have five sibling puppies available for adoption. The mixed lab-hound puppies came from a shelter in Kentucky where they were about to be euthanized. PAWS of Tinley Park stepped in and the curious canines were brought here for adoption. The siblings are three and a half months old, and for the past six weeks have been dividing their time between the shelter and a volunteer's home.  The four males and one female have cheerful dispositions and are well behaved for such young animals, said PAWS staff.  They all get along well …

When Candy, a 4-year-old pit bull mix, entered PAWS of Tinley Park on Aug. 10, she had swollen legs, missing fur, and wounds the animal shelter staff said indicated she might have been thrown from a car. She was brought in as a stray and had been found on the side of the highway.  With all that behind her, she is still friendly, sweet and curious (when I met Candy, she sniffed all over my bag looking for the cinnamon Altoids hidden inside). Nuggie, an 8-year-old male chow/husky mix has been at PAWS of Tinley Park since Aug. 27, when his owner was forced to give him up due to economic considerations. He is healthy, up to date on all his shots, neutered and microchipped. Nuggie is a sweet and attentive dog who loves short walks, being with family and kisses. His previous owner prepared a list of Nuggie's likes and dislikes.
