This week, Patch sought out the best Chicago-style hot dog in the Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn and Palos area for our new ongoing series “Chowdown Showdown.”
Welcome to “Chowdown Showdown,” a weekly feature where we take one type of food and ask readers to nominate their favorite restaurants in Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn and Palos. This week’s food in focus was the hot dog. We tallied the votes on each respective Patch site and Facebook page. The selected restaurants for our second “Chowdown Showdown” all made great Chicago-style hot dogs (you’re only allowed to put ketchup on a hot dog if you’re under 6). Fat Tuesday is not complete without this fried dough Polish treat.
For many area residents Fat Tuesday is not complete without the delectable Polish delicacy known as paczki. Last year, the bakery gave customers the choice of 17 different varieties. The Southtown Star recently visited Witek's Bakery in Palos Hills where an estimated …

You've voted, you've commented, you've left reviews and you've tasted. The judges have spoken and we've settled for all time the question of who bakes the Most-Loved Pizza in the Southland.
The people have spoken—and tasted—and the results we've all been waiting for are in. After two fierce rounds in the Patch Pizza Playoffs, the most-loved pizza in the Southland has emerged. We started with eight brackets of competitors. The No. 1 vote-getter in each bracket moved to the championship round and the finalists were judged on three factors—the number of votes, positive reviews on each restaurant's Patch listing and the all-important blind taste test. Tasters from the Patch audience last Thursday were critical and took their jobs seriously. They applauded the sauteed veggies in pies from Mama and Me in Homewood, the tasty sausage from Salina's Pizza in Tinley Park, flavorful sauce from Al's Pizzeria in Palos Heights and sweet …
