It’s time for another Chowdown Showdown, our popular weekly feature that will not only give you great ideas on where to eat, but gives you the chance to rave about your favorite places in town. 

The Chowdown Showdown has two components. The first is when we call on you, our brutally honest readers, and gather votes for the best representative from Palos.

After we declare a Palos winner, we have a taste test where Palos, Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn restaurants are pitted against each other and each town's editor weighs in on who makes a particular dish best.

It's all in good fun.

Before the competition starts, we need your ideas on who our Palos representative should be.

This week's showdown will celebrate that summer necessity - ice cream. We want to keep it simple and pure: What is the best single scoop of ice cream in town. We have already highlighted milkshakes and will tackle sundaes later this summer. This competition is all about the perfect single bite of coolness. Tell us the best flavor and who serves it up.

Is it the classic vanilla at Tastee Freez? One of Plush Horse's signature creations? Chocolate from Oberweis?  Something else? Frozen custard, gelato and frozen yogurt are all welcome. 

How to Vote

There are three ways to vote for your favorite.

1. Leave a comment on this article and tell us your pick and why you think they are the best. 
2. Find your pick in our Palos Patch Directory and leave a review and tell the world just how good their ice cream is. 
3. Go to the Palos Patch Facebook page and tell us your pick. 

Get your votes in by Monday at midnight. We will announce the winner and share the results of our taste test on Wednesday.
