Worth Mom Drops Purse Full of Heroin in Front of Police at Pizza Hut

Christina Zila faces multiple charges, including two counts of endangering the life of a child.

A Worth mother is facing drug charges after she reportedly dropped a purse full of hypodermic needles and heroin while at the Palos Hills Pizza Hut.

Christina Zila, 36, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug equipment and two counts of endangering the life of a child, Palos Hills police said.

Officers were called at about 7 p.m. on Nov. 16 to the Pizza Hut at 11101 Southwest Highway, where they found Zila inside the restaurant. Employees reportedly told police they were concerned for her children because of how she was acting.

When approached, Zila asked to talk with officers at the Palos Hills Police Department instead of inside the restaurant.

As they were leaving, Zila reportedly dropped her purse. Police said numerous needles and baggies with what later tested positive for heroin fell out.

Zila was taken to bond court in downtown Chicago. The Department of Children and Family Services was called regarding her children.

Police report information is provided by Palos Hills Police. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.

this is getting out of control. Save those children. A child should not grow up with addicts parents and unfortunately it happens all of the time. i feel bad for the kids.

Well the kids are fine, believe me i am one of them. This article is inaccurate. So how about you just keep your opinions to yourself and go do something that is actually helpful towards someones life.

Her actions were certainly questionable but I don't think name-calling is needed. I'm not trying to scold; just wondering if there is a higher conversation that could be had on this issue.

Management should be proud of their employees for the concern of the child.
Good Job to all of you.

Nick, drugs and needles are bad, but drugs and needles AND dragging along the kids merits a little derision. Sorry.

If people are so concerned for the children, then they would be a little more careful about what they were saying about thier mother. Really dont all you people think those kids are going through enough. Now they have to here nasty comments about a women they call Mom and love Unconditionally. So all this News Paper did for these poor kids is give something for all thier classmates parents to read and now they can be talked about, thier mother can be talked about. So not only do they have to worry about her but now they have to worry about going to school every day, and wondering what people are saying behind thier backs or why they are not thier friends no more. So please dont act like you people are so concerned about those poor children. It was just a visit withx thier mother I believe they reside with thier father, until some place will take her or she can get the help she needs. Sometimes people make the wrong choices in life and it is sad , but it is also wrong for people to sit around and judge them. We all know are lives are far from perfect, ,we just dont make the paper. This Blog did nothing but hurt those children, so shame on all you perfect people. Cn

I knew her and her and her boyfriend broke into their neighbors home when she and her small kids were at school and made off with a laptop, jewelry, quarters for laundry, her kids iPod, and the husbands new shoes in the box. A few Weeks prior, they stole another.neighbors bike and sold it as their own. Im moving cause I don't need someone breaking into my place. Its sad what.deugs make people do, and maybe this is the.wakeup call she needs to better her.life.for her.and her kids.

Do you have video that shows her and her boyfriend went into you apartment and stole your stuff? probably not. so maybe you should get over yourself and mind your own buisness. things that happen in the apartment complex above you actually has nothing to do with your life. So how about go get your own life and stop making assumptions. Maybe lock your door if your are concerned with theifs

Anthony & Ashley, Instead of defending your mother, perhaps you should look into getting her some help. When your mother committed this crime, she made it our business. I pity you children that had to witness her getting arrested with a purse full of needles & heroin. Hopefully you will not follow in her sad footsteps. Nobody is at fault for any of this except her. We all make choices in life, unfortunately your mother made terrible ones. Hopefully she will learn from this, and so will you..

Actually, I never said it was "my" apartment Ashley. I lived in the building next them. So how would you know it was the people downstairs? You didn't live their. And funny how your mom and her boyfriend took off the day of the robbery and never returned for their things and rather sent friends to get their stuff. I know the lady who lived their and her husband and they were decent people who were nice and never caused problems. Breaking into a neighbors house is like breaking into ours! The cops were always in and out next door and who was in cuffs? Your mom. Granted I didn't know them personally, but from how everyone is talking and now she's in the newspaper, maybe she needs serious help! I'm not saying she is a bad person on the inside, but her actions are serious and can't be ignored. Maybe jail time will help her sober out and get her the help she needs so she can better her life and be there as a mom to her kids. Heroin is serious and all it takes is one wrong dose and she won't be here....what's more important, protecting your mothers reputation or protecting your mothers life and realizing she needs help and for you guys to get her that help she needs?
