What would you like to see go in this spot on Harlem Avenue? It's located directly across from the new Lucano's Pizza and is just a stone's throw from Jewel.

If you had your choice, what you like to see come to Palos Heights?

Yes!! Yes!! another bank is needed. Our fine city council will shoot down any reasonable attempt to improve the tax base so why even bother. Let's have them come up with something. As you drive around town you can see their fine work from one end to the other!!

That place is an eyesore!! All the beautiful work that has been done on that corner and you have that dump sitting there. Why did the city not take that over when Jewel did the work? Why has the city not taken over many of the strips like all the other neighboring towns and done something about so many eyesores and empty buildings? Most of our main strip needs to be completely renovated. It's ridiculous!

I totally agree. I'm racking my brain and can't think of places I would actually utilize in such small spaces. How the mayor and alderman don't have a master plan at this point is beyond inexcusable!!! We need people representing us that have vision and initiative for change. Oak Lawn, Tinley and Orland did it....why can't we????

Well you see adding something useful would increase the traffic.

Well then I can't believe there is any traffic at all considering the complete lack of useful places we have up and down Harlem. Except of that one therapy place....it's top notch!!!!

Commercial property tax in Cook County is prohibitive to most new businesses. Only the deep pocketed banks have a shot at survival because they take our money at .01% and lend it back out at a much higher rate. (Thats if you can even get a loan) Unfortunately, our current village administrator is a banker. The definition of a banker is someone that will lend you their umbrella when its sunny and want it back when it starts raining. The small entrepreneur is boxed out of the game. Secession from Cook County is the only real hope for anybody.

Todd, you're right on the money! Love the umbrella analogy as well. Wish secession was a viable option.

I would like to see them lure Foot Locker back!! Every town needs a Foot Locker and Palos Heights hasn't been the same without it.

All the complaints about city government yet every official is running for election unopposed. Complaining on Patch isn't going to change anything. What does everyone think about begging Footlocker to come back?

A bakery/ coffee shop or Panera sounds good- in a new building though.

Panera rejected the location and the city will not allow any use that is not retail or restaurant. Several banks, medical, and office uses were interested in taking the building down and putting up a new facility but the city would not allow it.

Panera sucks... there are about 10 sandwich shops within 8 miles...

Landmark Flooring still continues to look for a larger space. We would like to know what the cost of the space is and it would need to be updated. We like the Harlem Ave frontage but i agree its not the most handsome building. A little TLC and reasonable rent would interest us.
