The Best Pastries in Palos: You Decide

Help us decide who makes the best pastries in the Palos area.

It’s time for another Chowdown Showdown, our weekly feature that will not only give you great ideas on where to eat, but will allow you to tell everyone why your favorite spot is the best.

The Chowdown Showdown pits Palos, Evergreen Park and Oak Lawn restaurants against each other to decide who makes a particular dish best. Before the competition starts, we need your ideas on who our Palos representative should be.

This week's showdown is a bit more open-ended. We are looking for the best pastry in town. Does a certain bakery serve up some top quality doughnuts? Is there an independent grocery store that makes a mean cinnamon roll? How about kolacky or Danish? The winner then will go on to face the best of Oak Lawn and Evergreen.

How to Vote

There are three ways to vote for your favorite.

  1. Leave a comment on this article and tell us your pick and why you think they are the best.
  2. Find your pick in our Palos Places Directory and leave a review and tell the world just how good their pastries are.
  3. Go to the Palos Facebook Page and tell us your pick.

Get your votes in by Monday at 10 a.m. We will announce the winner and share the results of our taste test on Wednesday.

That's Not All . . .

The Palos Places Directory allows you to leave reviews of your all your favorite place in town. From auto shops to eye doctors, hot dog stands to churches, find them in the directory and tell everyone why they are great.

Baumann's Bakery at 12248 South Harlem Avenue Palos Heights, IL 60463. They make the most beautiful, delicate, melt in your mouth, filled croissants. French pastry at it's best, AND witness the long, long lines and advance orders for Pazcki on Mardi Gras! Love it that there is something for everyone at Baumann's--oops forgot to mention the bacon rolls--yummy!
