A semi truck became lodged under a Metra overpass on 80th Avenue Tuesday morning causing road closures and traffic delays.

Several hours after first becoming stuck under the overpass 80th Avenue was still closed for several blocks, backing up traffic at the intersection of Southwest Highway, 80th Avenue and Route 83.

The truck's trailer is wedged under the tracks as efforts continue to dislodge it. The road is a popular route for those looking to enter Palos Community Hospital.

Looks like everyone loses on this... The company that now has to pay for the damage to the viaduct and the driver that lost his job. How did he not see the sign???

Perhaps he could neither speak or read English........OR do the math ot determine if he could make the underpass.

BTW, the way to get this out is to let the air out of the tires to lower the trailer and remove the pressure holding it in place.

Por cierto, la manera de conseguir esto es dejar que el aire de los neumáticos para bajar el remolque y quitar la presión manteniéndolo en su lugar. Estoy diciendo a todos mis amigos que sólo hablan y leen español.

Bob I think you are absolutely right about speaking and reading english ... which would enclude doing any kind of math. Maybe he was texting and did not see the sign. Either way.. he is done.

or maybe all the signs can read "ENCLUDE" so we all have one language. Damn Obama and his socialist ways with language.

Maybe they could post roman numerals for those who speak Pig Latin.

No kidding Dan! There seems to be a lot of hateful and angry people out there! My only comment is.....Suzy Q's friend is right. It happens quite a lot! I think the guy made the turn, saw the sign, knew what was about to happen and just panicked....
