Selection of New Palos Park Commissioner Delayed

Mayor John Mahoney said a replacement for Kent Oliven will be named later this month, according to a report.

Palos Park Mayor John Mahoney said a commissioner to replace Kent Oliven, who announced his resignation in November, will be named at a meeting later this month, The Regional News reports.

An appointment of a person to fill the spot on the Village Council was on the meeting agenda for earlier this week, according to the report. Instead of voting on the replacement, Mahoney said the process was continuing. The next meeting is set for Feb. 25.

Oliven talked with Palos Patch in November. He has accepted a job as the Finance Director for the City of Park Ridge, which requires him to attend meetings that conflict with Palos Park's board meetings.

"Residents elected me and put their faith in me to help make the village a better place," Oliven said in November. "It was a short stint but I really hope I lived up to that."
