If I were a potential business I would not rent that space until the landords updated the whole look of that mall. It looks dark, set back and parking is a bear. An ordinace should be passed that the multiple landlord owning strip malls in this town along Harlem Ave must be uniform and update! Just look how much potential there is here.. Harlem could be so much better! Instead of Tiffs for the unused properties in Plaos , Why can't some of that money go toward improving what we already have along Harlem. And I do not mean places like Jewel. I wouild totally be for that.

Mom for once I totally agree with you! Our aldermen need to exhaust all options in revamping the facade of our downtown! I refuse to believe there is a true plan being followed here! Where is the vision? When are the parking lots going to be moved to the backs of the buildings? As a motivated resident I would love to know what I personally could do to help facilitate the improvement of our downtown. Is it to start a committee, make phone calls, write letters.....what? Let's hear it aldermen what do you need? If it's to make sure you're not reelected I'll be more than happy to oblige you!
Nick is there a way to start a Q and A thread with a different alderman once a week/month (or get totally crazy and the mayor too)? The meeting aren't really conducive for great questions/answers, but this may be an avenue to provide that!

I would like to see an auto parts store. Crestwood and Worth are a really long walk when your car is down.

I would love to see a nice steak place...and I totally agree with the fact that most of our downtown looks horrible and needs major improvement...so excited to see what goes in to the old ben franklins. That should at least be a start!

How about an everyday market that sells healthy food, like fruit and vegetables.
