What Do You Think of the New McDonald's?

One of Palos Heights' newest businesses opened last week and held its grand opening over the weekend. The fast food restaurant remodeled the 127th Street location.

 

A much-anticipated remodeled McDonald's restaurant and drive-thru in Palos Heights held its grand opening over the weekend.

The fast-food spot on 127th Street is the latest restaurant offering for the city. In three months, McDonald's demolished the old building and popped up a new one.

This brand-spanking new building features a double drive thru and an updated design and facade.

The real question is: does this new look come with an upgraded operation, too? A number of customers weren't thrilled with the service at the old spot. Palos Patch readers on Facebook gave their initial reactions as the restaurant powered through its first few days of flipping burgers and making fries.

McDonald's relaunch comes on the heels of another burger restaurants development. Wendy's opened up a modernized building on Harlem Avenue, just on the other side of Jewel from the Golden Arches.

I went there last night service was bad and their staff is absolutely horrible. Disorganized and inefficient. Such a shame. I hope they realize that now I would rather hang at Wendy's than McD

Horrible drive thru service. No change from before. Highly unorganized people who are oblivious to the customers needs. I also will go to Wendy's before going back there.

Why a double drive thru when they weren't great at a single drive thru? Went late on Sunday for a sundae & shake and there I sat at the outer drive thru when 2 seperate cars ordered & drove thru!

Went there twice service was HORRIBLE, Waited for a long time for my order and it was ALL cold when I got it. Went there at 5PM Sun. the MGR said he was out of singles he would have to give me $5 in quarters ( it was 5 o'clock what were they going to do for the rest of the nite) VERY disappointed

I cant beleive any of you actually take time to complain about a fast food restaurant like McDonalds. If your anything like normal adults you realize things happen, it doesnt matter how many time. If it is a reoccuring thing stop going. Normal adults dont have time to complain about an experience at a fast food chain because they are off doing grown up things. You guys are pretty sad.

I am a normal adult, a working mother with active children. I work hard for my money and have very little time to pull up in a drive thru and wait for over 15 minutes at a place guarantees fast service. This is the worst McDonalds I have ever been to. I have never once received my order without a problem. Pretty sad for a chain restaurant.. I am disappointed to see nothing has changed. I would hope the owner would see this feedback and make some changes to better serve the community.

I have been at this new McDonald's every day for the past week. I not only got great service but we got additional specials and discounts. We also received free items and the management and owner went out of their way to greet us and welcome us back. I do not know what any of your problems are. They are better than most in the area, but stuff happens. It is not always the employee. In drive thru a lot of the time it is the customer not being ready with their order or their food.

I really am glad to have the McDonald's back. It is beautiful. Family night on Tuesday was great. My kids really enjoyed it. What a deal...happy meal under $2, a craft and quality time with the kids. And no dishes! Give them a break guys.

Does anyone know the volume this restaurant does? Thousands and thousands of orders per day. Its a new restaurant, with new machines, new processes, and new people. Growing Pains. Give them a break.

I personally have always left that restaurant satisfied and appreciate that the owner is willing to invest so much in our community. Did anyone go to the grand opening? How much free food did they give away? I had a chance to win a computer. Above and beyond.

I am behind all of you complainers everyday. Most of you complain about EVERYTHING,are never happy and want a full service experience at a fraction of the cost. Really! Stop complaining!

I have been WAITING for this location to return! The decor is nicer than any other McDonald's I've seen. I was in the drive thru today for less than 3 minutes with 4 cars ahead of me. I was greeted with a smile. The staff is very clearly trying their best. No new location is ever perfect from the get go with any type of business. Give some patience while they work out the kinks. Stop and ask yourself how you would like someeone to treat your kid working in the drive thru. You get what you give!

Funny that their line is always packed, and I have never even seen a body in the inside of that Wendy's.

I didn't get a chance to go inside buy I saw from the window and it looks so gorgeous! Nothing like you'd expect from a McDonalds. Food was great, was in the drive for 6 minutes but it was lunch rush so I think it's normal to run a minute or two longer! Happy to wait for a great location and good service.

It has nothing to do with being new... many of those kids that work there are nice but ive seen with my own eyes some of the managers treat them like crap. Yes its fast food and but its ran bad for a McDonald's ...

My daughter brings my 3 grandchildren over and they love McD's. She complained last yr that this one was the worst. I have to agree since I have received orders that were skimpy and felt cheated. The only other one with bad service in the area is on 106 th and Cicero. I wonder if both aren't owned by same owner.

I'm wondering if all the people praising Wendy's to the heavens happen to work for Wendy's?

Regarding this location, I've never had a problem with the service, and it's always packed every time I go...they must be doing something right!

I want to patronize locally...but their drive thru service is abominable! They have gotten our order wrong so many times it is ridiculous. We went there on January 6 and ordered at the drive thru window for four people. As us ual, they were unable to process our order in a timely manner so we pulled into a parking spot. After waiting a reasonable five minutes I went inside to check on my order. I met the worker who was bringing my order out. When I stopped to check it before leaving, said, "Oh, I think I forgot to put in the two hamburgers." Yes she did. Then she left me standing there with my incomplete order while she went outside with another order. How outrageous that she was knowingly going to bring an incomplete order to my car and let me potentially drive away with it! I can't tell you how many times they have messed up my order. I will never use their drive thru again and will only go to this location if my kids really, really want to. This location is awful. We go to Crestwood or Palos Hills instead.
