Proceeds from Dave and Buster's opening day on Saturday went to Do It Stevie's Way, a charity in memory of 17-year-old Steven Bajenski, who died from heart complications. The Mokena teen was an avid baseball player, and the charity supports youth athletes and academics in his honor. Karen Bajenski, Steven's mother (left), expressed gratitude for the effort with the new business. Dave and Buster's new location opened in Orland Park Saturday with patrons enjoying an array of games, food and drinks, but also supporting a local charity.

Up to $5,000 of Saturday's proceeds were set aside for Do It Stevie's Way, a charity dedicated to 17-year-old Steven Bajenski of Mokena. Bajenski was a baseball enthusiast, playing for both the Illinois Sparks and Mount Carmel High School's team, and a strong student. He died in 2009 after surgery to correct a lifelong heart problem.

"We knew we had to do something to keep his spirit alive," said Karen Bajenski, Steven's mother, while at Dave and Buster's on Saturday, about starting the charity.

The company first learned about the charity through Gina Chinino, who aided public relations for the opening. Her sister attended school with Steven Bajenski.

Following the 10:45 a.m. ribbon cutting, several union protestors gathered outside of the business along LaGrange Road and 151st Street. A man who declined to be named claimed the protest invoved choosing non-union workers for construction, but wouldn't comment further. Management for Dave and Buster's also declined to comment. By 3 p.m. the protestors had dispersed.
