Elderly Woman Targeted in Another Area Ruse Burglary
Worth police are searching for a man who is suspected in a ruse burglary where jewelry and cash were stolen.
Police are looking for a man suspected in a ruse burglary in Worth from earlier this week.
An elderly woman was targeted at about 1:15 p.m. on Monday, police said.
This is the second ruse burglary incident reported by area police in March. An elderly couple in Hickory Hills was hit on March 8.

When she answered the door, the Worth woman spoke with a man who asked if she remembered him cutting trees in the past. He told her that ice in her trees was causing problems and that he worked for a tree cutting service.

The elderly woman led the ruse burglar through her house and into the backyard to look at the trees, police said. After a short while, the woman told the man to leave and refused to let him back in the house. He drove away in a green SUV.
An hour later, the woman found cash and jewelry missing from her home.
The suspect is described as a 5-foot, 6-inch white man, with a heavy-set build and salt and pepper balding hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt jacket.
