Fate of Robbins' Top Cop Hangs on Meeting
Johnny Holmes, the Village of Robbins' police chief and a District 218 board member, was suspended in December after he was charged with DUI.
The future for the Village of Robbins' top cop hangs on the outcome of a closed-door meeting set to take place tonight.
Mayor Irene Brodie and board members will meet in a special closed meeting at 5:30 p.m. to make a “definitive determination” on Johnny Holmes status as the village police chief, who was charged with DUI in December.
Holmes, 66, has been suspended since Dec. 26 after village officials found out about his arrest earlier in the month, said village Administrator Napoleon Haney.

Currently, Holmes is a member on the Community High School Dist. 218 school board, that includes H. L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, and Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights.
Police stopped Holmes in Midlothian at around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 22, after he reportedly cut off another driver, according to reports. Holmes had a flask of liquor in his pocket and a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. The Robbins police chief failed field sobriety tests and was charged with two counts of DUI.
This is the second time Holmes has been arrested for DUI. The first incident happened in March 2010, also in Midlothian, where Holmes allegedly pulled into oncoming traffic. Holmes was suspended with pay after that first arrest while his case was under review and was given a verbal warning by Robbins trustees.
Haney said the village has no official comment on Holmes or his charges yet. A statement regarding his job in the Robbins Police Department will be released Friday.

So sick and tired of corruption. Throw his butt in jail and fine him heavily. He should resign in shame. Absolutely disgusting piece of garbage.

No way they could justify letting him stay..One DUI a bad mistake possibly..Second DUI.. jailtime, especially since he should be enforcing the laws, not breaking them..People carry flasks because they have a drinking problem and Need a sip for a pick me up during the day! You know, the time he's supposed to be Police Chief!! Immediate termination from both positions and jail time even if it's minimal..He needs help...........

The only help he needs is to get over his "Holier Than Thou" attitude. Typical abuse of authority. He just happened to be stupid enough to get caught....................twice. Another one that thinks he's above the law.

I here Ryan and Blago would love another roommate. We need a new prison called Crook County Correctional Facility. Lock all our corrupt authority figures up together. Then the taxpayers who pay for their sins can go visit them......almost like going to the zoo.

No professional courtesy from your neighboring town... must say something about Robbins!... are we sure he is a Police Chief... why did he submit to field sobriety tests and why did he submit to breath? It is his right to refuse like it is any other citizen. And yes he should resign, but I'm guessing he will not and the village of Robbins will give him another pass citing the fact that his value to the village outweighs the fact that he was arrested for another DUI. As far as the School Board goes, he should see the writing on the wall and resign before he is terminated. He is setting a poor example for our teens!!

Kick him out - BOTH PLACES!! Does anyone know when the next Dist 218 meeting is being held? As a 218 taxpayer, I would like my opinion known.
