Ingalls Welcomes New Cardiovascular And Thoracic Surgeon To Medical Staff
Ingalls is pleased to welcome cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon Edgar Chedrawy, M.D., to its Medical Staff.
Dr. Chedrawy has eight years of practicing experience since his cardiopulmonary transplantation/mechanical circulatory support fellowship at Stanford University. He completed a cardiac surgery residency program at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and received his medical degree from Dalhousie Medical School in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
An accomplished professor, author and lecturer on cardiovascular and thoracic issues, Dr. Chedrawy has published numerous articles and book chapters. His present administrative appointments include associate professor at the University of Illinois department of surgery, and medical director of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Weiss Memorial Hospital. He also continues to serve on key executive and clinical committees at Weiss and the University of Illinois.
Dr. Chedrawy is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC, Cardiac Surgery) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS, Thoracic Surgery). His primary focus is heart failure, minimally invasive heart valve repair and replacement, and minimally invasive, video-assisted thoracic procedures for lung cancer and non-malignant intrathoracic diseases.
When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Chedrawy likes playing hockey, cycling and traveling.
